CATS Tonometer Prism™ Now Available in the U.S.; Launches at AAO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TUCSON, Arizona, October 1, 2019 – The CATS Tonometer Reusable Prism™ is now available for order through a variety of key distributors in the United States. A breakthrough in intraocular pressure (IOP) accuracy, the CATS Tonometer Prism™ establishes a new standard in reliable Goldmann IOP measurement.

The FDA cleared, patented applanation surface of CATS Tonometer Prism™ delivers an immediate 94% improved IOP accuracy for the majority of the population, based upon peer reviewed research.* It is designed to seamlessly integrate into a clinician’s practice with no additional cost, no new training, and to streamline patient care.

“For decades GAT IOP measurement errors have been well known to the clinician community,” says Sean McCafferty, MD, FACS and CEO of CATS Tonometer LLC. “We believe the CATS Tonometer Prism™ will rapidly become the new standard of care and greatly improve the recognition and treatment of ocular disease.”

John Berdhal, MD, a CATS TonometerLLC Advisor, states, “The CATS Tonometer Prism™ provides more accurate IOPs with an easier to use design, because it compensates for corneal biomechanics.”

“The CATS Tonometer Prism™ provides more accurate IOP assessment, sparing patients and clinicians from the damaging consequences of over and under estimation of IOP,” according to Nathan Radcliffe, MD.

This innovative device has won numerous awards and grants from scientific, technological and industry resources, underlining the need for this technology in the marketplace:

  • First place at Ophthalmology Futures Forums Shark Tank contest in Paris last month
  • Second Place winner of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Winning Pitch Challenge
  • Selected to participate in the Flinn Foundation’s 2019 Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program Arizona Innovation Challenge Fall 2017 Awardee
  • SBIR / STTR Phase II $1.1M grant recipient
  • Selected to participate NIH Commercialization Accelerator Program (CAP)

The CATS Tonometer Prism will be introduced at American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, October 12-15, and is available through distributor partners including: Hilco Vision, Eye Care & Cure, Lombart Instrument, Walman Instruments, Marco Ophthalmic, Enhanced Medical Services, Ophthalmic Instruments Inc. and Ophthalmic Instrument Company.  Please visit xxx for booth locations.
